코페르니쿠스: 오늘, 저는 여러분에게 중요한 사실을 말씀드릴 겁니다. 지구는 우주의 중심이 아닙니다.

남자1: 무슨 얘기를 하는 거예요, 코페르니쿠스?

여자: 지구가 중심이고, 태양이 그 주위를 돈답니다!

  “Today, I’m going to talk about new discoveries.”

  Until the 16th century, the center of the universe was Earth. This was obvious, and everyone believed it. But Copernicus asked, "Is it really true?" His question started a big change. Today, Earth isn't the center of the universe anymore. This story teaches us an important lesson. We should always question obvious things. Then we can make discoveries.

  There are other examples in history. In the past, humans couldn't travel through the air. But some people began to wonder, "Can we travel through the air?" The Wright brothers also asked this question, and they finally made an airplane. The same went for the submarine. Traveling under the water looked impossible, but people finally found a way.

  역사에는 또 다른 예시들이 있습니다. 과거에, 인간은 하늘을 여행할 수 없었습니다. 하지만 몇몇 사람들은 “우리가 하늘을 여행할 수 있을까?”라고 궁금해하기 시작했습니다. 라이트 형제 역시 이 질문을 던졌고, 그리고 그들은 마침내 비행기를 만들었습니다. 같은 것이 잠수함에도 해당되었습니다. 물 속을 여행하는 것은 불가능해 보였지만, 사람들은 마침내 방법을 찾아냈습니다.

  It's still going on today. Where does meat come from? Of course, it comes from animals. But some scientists wanted to get meat in a different way. "How about plants?" they wondered. They used beans and peas, and they made new, healthy "meat." Surprisingly, it doesn't taste like beans or peas. It tastes exactly like real meat.

  Do you want to find out new things? Then look around and question obvious things, just like history's great inventors!

We arrived at the flea market around ten o'clock. I put our items on the table. My sister shouted, "Good items here!" People enjoyed looking at them, but they didn't buy anything.

Then, a girl came. She said, “I like these shoes. But they're a little expensive." "Okay, then you can have a 20 percent discount," I said. She was our first customer!

Time passed, and we got tired. Then a woman said, "Keep trying!" She had a table next to us. She gave some bread to us. We started shouting again, "Best prices here!"

5월 26일 토요일

우리는 10시쯤 벼룩시장에 도착했다. 나는 우리 물건들을 테이블 위에 놓았다. 내 여동생은 “여기 좋은 물건들이 있어요!”라고 소리쳤다. 사람들은 그것들을 보는 것을 즐겼지만, 아무것도 사지 않았다.

그때, 한 소녀가 다가왔다. 그녀는 “이 신발이 마음에 들어요. 하지만 가격이 조금 비싸네요.” 라고 말했다. “좋아요, 그럼 20퍼센트 할인을 받을 수 있어요.” 라고 내가 말했다. 그녀는 우리의 첫 손님이었다!

시간이 흘렀고, 우리는 지쳤다. 그때, 한 여자분이 “계속 노력하렴!” 이라고 말했다. 그녀는 우리 옆자리에 테이블이 있었다. 그녀는 우리에게 약간의 빵을 주었다. 우리는 “여기가 최저가예요!” 라고 다시 소리치기 시작했다.

In the end, we sold many things. How much did we make?

We got 24,000 won. That’s great! How will we use this money? First, we will save half of the money. Then, we will donate 20 percent of the rest for hungry children. After that, we will go shopping. Maybe we will buy things at the flea market at low prices!

Dear Mom and Dad,

  Hi! How's everything? I'm enjoying my trip to Korea. Right now, I'm in Insa-dong. Tourists visit art shops and eat traditional food here. On this street, my favorite place is Ssamziegil. There are about 70 stores here. They sell special gifts. I'm sending some presents to you. You can learn about Korea from them. I will write to you again soon.

  This is buchae, a Korean fan. Artists make these fans from bamboo and hanji, traditional Korean paper. Then they draw beautiful pictures on them. You can see mugunghwa on your buchae. This flower is a symbol of the Korean people's strong spirit.

  I'm also sending yut for yunnori. It is a traditional Korean board game. In the game, you throw four sticks. They make five different combinations. They decide your move on the board. The combinations are do, gae, geol, yut, and mo. These names mean animals. Koreans play this game during holidays. We will play it together later!
