 Rada lived on a little world, far out in space. She lived there with her father, mother, and brother Jonny. Rada’s father and other people worked on spaceships. Only Rada and Jonny were children, and they were born in space.

 One day, Dad told Rada and Jonny, “We’re going back to Earth tomorrow.”

 Rada and Jonny looked at Dad in surprise and floated towards him. Rada asked Dad, “What’s it like on Earth?”

 “Everything is different there. For example, the sky is blue,” answered Dad.

 “I’ve never seen a blue sky,” said Jonny.

 “The sky is always black here,” said Rada.

 

Rada는 먼 우주의 작은 세계에 살았다. 그녀는 아빠와 엄마, 그리고 남동생 Jonny와 함께 그곳에 살았다. Rada의 아빠와 다른 사람들은 우주선에서 일했다. Rada와 Jonny만 아이들이었고, 그들은 우주에서 태어났다.

어느 날, 아빠가 Rada와 Jonny에게 “우리는 내일 지구로 돌아갈 거야.”라고 말했다.

 “You don’t have to wear your big heavy space suits because there is air everywhere. It’s also hard to jump there because Earth pulls you down,” said Dad.

 “What else?” asked Rada.

 “There are hills, and they are covered with soft green grass. You can roll down the hills,” answered Mom.

 “Dad, have you ever rolled down a hill?” asked Rada.

 “Yes, it’s really amazing!” answered Dad.

 Jonny was thirsty, so he opened a milk container and shook it. The milk floated in the air and formed balls. Jonny swallowed the balls.

 “Jonny, if you drink milk that way on Earth, you’ll get wet,” said Mom.

 

 “그곳에는 어디에나 공기가 있기 때문에 크고 무거운 우주복을 입을 필요가 없단다. 또한 지구가 너희를 끌어당기기 때문에 그곳에서는 점프하는 것도 어렵단다.”라고 아빠가 말했다.

 “그 밖에 또 뭐가 있어요?”라고 Rada가 물었다.

 “언덕들이 있는데 부드러운 초록색 잔디로 뒤덮여 있단다. 언덕을 굴러 내려갈 수도 있어.”라고 엄마가 대답했다.

 “아빠, 언덕을 굴러 내려가 보신 적 있어요?”라고 Rada가 물었다.

 “그래, 정말 굉장해!”라고 아빠가 대답했다.

 Jonny는 목이 말라서 우유 용기를 열어 그것을 흔들었다. 우유가 공기 중으로 떠서 방울을 형성했다. Jonny는 그 방울들을 삼켰다.

 “Jonny, 지구에서 그런 식으로 우유를 마시면 너는 젖을 거야.”라고 엄마가 말했다.

 

 

 

 Later that night, Rada and Jonny talked a long time about Earth. It was exciting to think about all the new things they were going to see and do. There was one new thing Rada and Jonny really wanted to do. They thought about it all night and didn’t tell Mom and Dad about it. It was their secret.

 The next day, Rada’s family got on a spaceship.

 “It’s going to be a long trip,” said Mom.

 “That’s alright. I’m so excited!” said Rada.

 

 그날 밤 늦게, Rada와 Jonny는 지구에 대해 오랫동안 이야기했다. 그들이 보고, 하게 될 모든 새로운 것들에 대해 생각하는 것은 흥미진진했다. Rada와 Jonny가 정말로 하고 싶은 한 가지 새로운 것이 있었다. 그들은 그것에 대해 밤새 생각했고 엄마와 아빠에게는 말하지 않았다. 그것은 그들의 비밀이었다.

 The spaceship finally landed.

“Dad, it’s difficult to walk on Earth,” said Rada.

“I know. Earth is pulling you down,” said Dad.

Rada and Jonny couldn’t float anymore. That was the first new thing.

“What’s that sound?” asked Rada.

“A bird is singing,” said Mom.

“I’ve never heard a bird sing,” said Rada.

“And I’ve never felt the wind,” said Jonny.

These were all new things.

Rada and Jonny ran up the nearest hill. At the top, they looked at each other and laughed. Then they lay down on the soft green grass and rolled down the hill. That was their secret!

“This is the best new thing of all!” shouted Rada and Jonny.

And they ran up to the top of the hill again.

 

  우주선이 마침내 착륙했다.

“아빠, 지구에서는 걷는 것이 어려워요.”라고 Rada가 말했다.

“그래. 지구가 너를 끌어당기고 있거든.”라고 아빠가 말했다.

Rada와 Jonny는 더 이상 떠다닐 수 없었다. 그것이 첫 번째 새로운 것이었다.

“저건 무슨 소리죠?”라고 Rada가 물었다.

“새가 노래하고 있어.”라고 엄마가 말했다.
