본문 1 – Seyun’s First Online Sale

 

 Seyun rides his bike to school every day. He likes his bike, but he is taller and stronger this year. His bike has become too small for him, so he wants to buy a bigger, faster one. However, he does not have enough money in his savings account. What can he do?

 Suddenly, Seyun had an idea. “My old bike is almost as good as a new one. Maybe I can sell it and add the money to buy a new one.”

 세윤이는 매일 학교에 자전거를 타고 갑니다. 세윤이는 자신의 자전거를 좋아하지만, 그는 올해 키가 더 크고 힘도 더 세졌습니다. 그의 자전거는 그에게 너무 작아져서, 그는 더 크고 더 빠른 자전거를 사기를 원합니다. 하지만, 그는 자신의 예금 계좌에 충분한 돈을 가지고 있지 않습니다. 그가 무엇을 할 수 있을까요?

 He acted fast. He took a photo of his bike with his smartphone and posted the picture, with a short comment, on an online market: “Used bike in excellent condition. Only 100,000 won. Please text me.” He was excited, thinking about the bike he planned to buy. He could see himself riding the shiny new bike. He could not wait to get a reply to his online advertisement. Every few minutes he checked the number of hits. As the number of hits went up, his expectations went up too. One hour passed, then two, and finally a whole day, but he received no texts. Nobody seemed to want his bike. New postings by other people pushed his post down the list. His heart began to sink.
